The Rajasthan Education Department has kicked off Prakhar Raj 2.0, a 90-day reading‑intensive campaign aimed at students in Classes 3–5 and 6–8 across government schools.  The program, which runs until early December, aims to strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, and language skills through structured, interactive interventions.

Teachers have been trained to diagnose reading weaknesses and deliver personalized remedial sessions. The campaign’s core elements include daily reading blocks, use of local literature and storytelling, library exposure, and activity-based worksheets to make reading engaging.  A notable feature: AI‑based oral reading fluency assessment tools that monitor progress and flag areas for support.

Parental engagement is also emphasized. A state-wide parent‑teacher meeting was held early in September to orient caregivers to their roles in fostering reading habits at home. Officials hope that alignment between school and home environments will enhance sustainability.

Rajasthan’s prior campaigns showed modest gains, but this renewed effort seeks more rigorous tracking and accountability. State education officials are closely monitoring weekly and monthly progress indicators to ensure consistency across districts.

Education analysts view Prakhar Raj 2.0 as potentially significant: it operationalizes classroom management, formative assessment, and data feedback loops in a state-scale literacy push. If successful, it could serve as a model for other states under NEP 2020’s push to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy.
