Jhansi Teacher Sets Record for Creating AI Humanoid With Minimal Investment

  A government school teacher from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, has been featured in the *India Book of Records 2025* for building an AI-powered humanoid, named “Madam Suman,” with an investment of only ₹2,900. The recognition was awarded to Mohanlal Suman, an assistant teacher at Rajapur village, for his innovative contribution to classroom learning.

  The humanoid was assembled using basic materials including a mannequin, servo motors, wiring, and simple programming. It was designed to assist in teaching, particularly when teachers are occupied with administrative duties. According to school officials, the introduction of the humanoid has significantly improved student attendance, which reportedly rose from 65 % to 95 % after its deployment.

  Madam Suman, programmed to mimic speech and simple gestures, engages students with lessons and helps maintain classroom continuity. The project demonstrates how low-cost technology can be leveraged in rural schools to enhance learning experiences and address teacher shortages. The India Book of Records recognized the effort as one of the most cost-effective educational innovations of the year.

  Education experts view this achievement as a motivating example for teachers nationwide to explore creative and practical ways to integrate technology into classrooms, regardless of resource limitations.
