Mumbai to have International-standard music college

On account of the 91st birthday of Bharat Ratna winner and evergreen playback singer of India, Lata Mangeshkar, on Monday, 28th September 2020, Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has announced that the state government will set up a Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Government Music College in Mumbai.

Uday Samant tweeted, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the initiative of Aditya Thackeray, my department will establish an international standard Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Government Music College on the occasion of the birthday of Empress Lata Didi.”

This is planned to be India’s first music college of international standard and will produce the next generation of singers and songwriters.

Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday i.e. September 27, 2020, appealed to the Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy Government to set up a Music University in memory of renowned playback singer, composer, artist late SP Balasubrahmanyam in Nellore town, Andhra Pradesh
