Getting a PhD will be a must for teaching at university level for the entry-level designation of Assistant Professor, according to the draft policy document. Teachers will undergo a mandatory, month-long induction programme before starting work, and will also have to devote two hours to mentor students for extra-curricular activities. It was decided that the new eligibility criteria should be applicable from 2021 after consideration.
