22nd December 2018 is celebrated as National Mathematics Day in India

In 2012, 22nd December was declared as “National Mathematics Day” to mark the 125th Anniversary of the Birth of the Indian Mathematical Genius “Shrinivasa Ramanujan”

Ramanujan has made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems considered to be unsolvable.

During his short life, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3,900 results (mostly identities and equations).[4] Many were completely novel
