World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is held annually on October 5.
UNESCO mentioned this day as International Teachers Day to commemorate the “Teaching in Freedom” pact signed on October 5, 1966 at a special intergovernmental conference convened in Paris.
This recommendation outlines standards relating to education personnel policy, recruitment, and initial training as well as the continuing education of teachers, their employment, and working conditions.
The theme for 2018 is ‘The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher’.
