A bill was launched in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that offers for university and college to be considered a reservation  unit instead of a “department / subject.”The Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers ‘ Cadre) Bill, 2019 seeks to replace previous government promulgated ordinance.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre launched the bill.

The bill will ensure full representation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Socially and Educationally Backward  Classes and Economically Weaker Sections in direct recruitment in the cadres of teachers.

This will allow more than seven thousand current vacancies to be filled by direct recruitment in the Teachers ‘ framework.  The Bill will also ensure that the economically weaker section receives a 10 percent reservation.
