Interview – Principal – Dr.S.M.Ganeechari -Thakur Polytechnic

Thakur Polytechnic was established in the year 1998. It is primarily to cater to the need of students desirous of pursuing technical education after the Secondary School Certificate examination. It provides the best infrastructure facilities matched by an equally competent teaching faculty and a right academic ambience to make learning a delight full experience.

Thakur Polytechnic is running 5 diploma courses in the departments of Mechanical, Computer, Electronics and Telecommunication (EXTC), Civil and information Technology (IT). All the courses are approved by AICTC, affiliated by Maharashtra State Board AICTC.

Thakur Polytechnic has got The “Best Polytechnic Award” from IST in western region and also “The Best Laboratory Award” of Maharashtra State Board Technical Education for their “Metrology and Quality Control Lab”

Thakur Polytechnic is getting 100% students enrolment from last 15 years.

Mr. Ganachari, The Principal of Thakur Polytechnic told the benefits of polytechnic course before pursuing Engineering He says “even though the number of years required for the graduation is same by the way of 12th + 4 years for B.E. and polytechnic + 3 years of B.E, the students get more hands on experience and practical knowledge in polytechnic which helps them to become industry ready”

Mr. Ganachari says that innovation is needed in today’s education.  He says “Innovative Ideas come from the young minds of the students. So it is the responsibility of the institute to bring out and nurture the hidden talent of the students”

To bring out hidden talents of the students Thakur Polytechnic is organising activities like Hackethon, Paper Presentation ,various project competitions in there campus

To encourage innovation among the students they have also started a Hobby workshop.

Mr Ganachari says “when a kid plays with toys, he dissembles it and reassembles again and that is how he learns its mechanism. In the same manner in this hobby workshop electronics and mechanical kits are given to the student to assemble their own projects.”

Mr. Ganachari also appreciates the initiative of Maharashtra Board of Technical Education to introduce I-Scheme. Through this scheme, every student is supposed to do a mini project in each and every subject right from the 1st year. In Final Year he has to do One Final Project and submit. It will motivate hands on skill and practical learning amongst the students
