KP Ward Science Exhibition 2018-19
At the glittering valedictory function of the Annual Science Exhibition K/P West Ward organised by the Education Department on December 6th, Bhavan’s A.H Wadia High School won the ‘BEST SCHOOL AWARD’ for the fourth time. It was the commemoration of the 3-days Science Exhibition that commenced in the premises of Bhavan’s A. H. Wadia High School from 4th December 2018.
The theme was ‘Scientific solution for challenges in life’. Principals, Teachers, parents, students, Ex-students and many visitors thronged in large numbers and were spell-bound by the 253 projects and exhibits in different categories put up by the 91 participating schools. The still and working models depicting the different sub-themes including Agriculture & Organic Farming, Health and Cleanliness, Resource Management, Waste Management, Transport and Communication and Mathematical Modelling [by students], Teaching Aids, Population Education and Display of Scientific instruments [by teachers] that inspired the spectators were innovative and attractively demonstrated and explained. It was visible that students participated for the spirit of sharing and learning and not in the competitive section.
The gala event was inaugurated by Mr. Suhas B. Naik Satam, Programm Coordinator and Research expert, Nehru Planetarium. The opening project ‘Smart City’ set up by Bombay Cambridge High School was impressive and appreciated by all the guests, who proceeded to view the other exhibits.
The day two was marked by the prize distribution ceremony for the Sahashaley competitions held earlier and was adorned by the presence of the chief guest Mrs. Vijaya Shanker, the renowned music singer and director. The presence of Ms. Rimi Sen – Actress and film producer, Mr. Dev Singh Gill – Cine Actor added glamour to the event. A scintillating cultural program put up by different schools mesmerized all.
The following informative and interactive Maths and Science workshops to enhance the skills of teachers to stir students to face global challenges were arranged.
- Science session by Mr. Suhas B. Naik-Satam on Astronomy and the Universe
- Maths session by Mr. Sunil Sharma on Speed Maths
- Information and Contribution of the Nobel prize-winners 2018 by Mrs. Namrata Mankad and Dr. Jayashree Gopalakrishnan
- 21st Century Scientific Teachers By Dr. A.P. Jayaraman
The grand finale was the prize-distribution ceremony where the participants and the winners were applauded and rewarded with trophies and certificate. The Honorable Chief Guest was Mr. Dr. A. P. Jayaraman, the renowned Nuclear Scientist. He inspired the gathering to have a scientific attitude in all aspects of life to face the challenges in the global world by ‘Knowing and Doing’. The Second and Third ‘Best school awards’ were bagged by Children Welfare Center High School and V.P. Vidyanidhi High School (English Medium).
The Retired Principals were felicitated for their service in the cause of Education. Mrs. Uma Dere and Mrs. Renu Dotre were also honored for their contribution in the compiling of the STD IX and X Hindi and English text books respectively.
The accomplishment of the thundering success of the entire event was made possible because of the unstinted support of the school management members MR. R. Saxena , Mr. S. G. Chitale, Principal Mrs. Nonika Bareja l from Bhavan’s A. H. Wadia, Mr. R. S. Naikwade Dy. Education Inspector(K/P West Ward), Mrs. Vasanti Bhirud Asst. Dy. Education Inspector(K/P West Ward), Dr. Suresh Nair Principal & Main Convener and Conveners including Principals and representatives from all other schools.
The Principal of the host school Mrs. Nonika Bareja attributed the success of the entire event and winning of the ‘Best School Award’ to the hard work, support and sincere endeavors put in by each and every Wadian who worked as a team.
This wonderful event provided a platform for the budding scientists from all schools to express their creativity and gain confidence.
